I qualified from King’s College Dental Institute in 2008.  I was lucky enough to win several awards during my time in dental school for academic knowledge, clinical skills, and won the prize for the best general all-round dental student.  I also gained a huge amount of experience working part time as a dental nurse in a high end private practice during dental school.  This gave me a huge amount of experience which has become invaluable!

Since qualifying, I gained a place on an unusual two year vocational training programme rotating between working in general practice in London and in King’s College Dental Hospital as a Senior House Officer.  I was able to work alongside world class consultants learning from the very best!  This allowed me to use skills I learned on specialist departments and transfer these over into general practice.

I then secured positions in various private practices as well as being invited to return to King’s College Dental Institute to teach final year dental students.  This is a position only given to 4 years post qualification, however this post was entrusted to me after just two years.  What an honour!  This was hugely enjoyable being able to pass on tips and tricks to upcoming budding dental students.

I hugely enjoy restorative dentistry and carry this out to the highest of standards.  My passion is composite restorations, in the back teeth as well as creating minimally invasive beautiful smiles.  I do this in many ways, but I very much enjoy doing this in a way to utilize your tooth tissue rather than destroying it.  I attend the Annual Dental Conference every year and am always keen to learn new techniques and all about new materials.

It is now the time for a new challenge and to try to lead an amazing dental team to provide the best possible and most ethical care to my future patients.  I cannot think of anyone better to do this with than Sally!

Having grown up in Germany, I speak fluent German, and I am a classically trained musician.  In my rare spare time, I swim, cycle, play badminton and ride my motorbike.  But best of all, spending time with my gorgeous family, including Sophie and Murph, the two naughtiest kittens in all of the South!

I am the joint owner and practising dental hygienist/therapist. Together Pat and I have 26 years’ experience working in various private dental clinics. I have worked with Pat in one of these clinics for the last four years and have loved every minute of it.  We have bonded as professionals into a great working team, one that is great fun and one that creates a friendly environment for all our patients and staff.  We want to make sure that whatever your reason for coming to see us is, you will leave feeling that we have looked after you; you may even enjoy it!

I graduated in 2008 from the University of Portsmouth gaining the ‘Molar’ award for communication. I immediately went to work into two busy thriving private practices and as the years have passed, I have worked in many practices gaining more experience, knowledge and confidence which has finally led me to open my own practice here at Ocean Village with Pat.

I have also undertaken further training in inhalation sedation and advanced tooth whitening  and as I am dually qualified as a dental therapist and hygienist this means I am able to offer a wide variety of treatments. As a therapist I am part dentist, part dental hygienist and part educator, and I can help my patients in a number of ways, starting from diagnostics and continuing all of the way to the post-treatment check-ups. I am able to perform x-rays and other assessments to check the condition of your mouth and teeth which means that I can check for any signs of abnormalities or conditions such as oral cancer.

In dental care, prevention is key, and dental therapists will often be the individuals applying protective measures to teeth such as fluoride varnishes (which help stop tooth decay) and fissure sealants (plastic coatings which prevent food and bacteria getting stuck in the grooves of your back teeth).

Routine fllings on both baby teeth and adult teeth can also be carried out by therapists, so it’s possible that if you need a filling, I may be the person performing the procedure. In addition, I am able to extract baby teeth. Perhaps the most important role I have in the practice is that of an educator helping to encourage my patients to look after their oral health.

When I’m not in the dental surgery, I can be found down in Devon enjoying the waves and attempting to surf. This is a relatively new hobby and one that I am finding difficult to master but one that is truly exhilarating. I am very proud and lucky to have three fantastic children that have grown up and flown the nest and are now pursuing their own hopes and dreams.

Lead Dental Nurse and Sedation Lead

My career in dental nursing started in 1992 just over 30 years ago. I completed my dental nursing at The Bristol Dental Hospital, following on from that I commenced my dental nursing oral health education teaching certificate and dental sedation nursing qualification also at the BDH. After qualifying as a dental nurse my passion was ignited to want to help nervous and phobic patients on their dental journey, try to make it a positive one and one they want to travel again. I wanted to be part of them overcoming fears, worries and any anxieties they might have had which in turn inhibits them attending for dental appointments.  Five years ago I started my own business to be a freelance dental nurse, and Ocean Village Dental Clinic are one of my many practices that I visit and work with on a regular basis.

I have a busy family always out doing something, I am very lucky to live by a 9,800-acre estate, with woods and lakes of which I enjoy nothing better than exploring with a bike or just walking. I like to keep fit so walking, cycling and yoga is my go to when I want to just chill and relax.

I very much look forward to meeting & welcoming you to our beautiful practice.

Dental Nurse

I've been a Dental Nurse since 2014, working in various NHS dental practices around the Southampton Area.  In the past nine years I have gained lots of experience and I have really enjoyed my journey so far.

I have a strong passion for patient care and enjoy seeing everyone happy with the treatment they have received.  Patient care has always been my top priority.

I love to help patients overcome any dental fears they may have and also love to make sure all children enjoy their dental visits with us, building trust and confidence with us from an early age.

I have two children of my own and they keep me busy with their activities when I'm not working.  I love spending time with my family and friends, visiting different parts of the UK and having little holidays abroad when we get the chance.

I really look forward to meeting you all at our beautiful practice in Ocean Village.

Apprentice Dental Nurse

I am new to the dental industry in which I am starting off as an apprentice Dental Nurse. I chose this career path because I have always had a passion for caring for the people around me and I love to take on new challenges.

When I'm not busy at work I enjoy spending time out with my friends and talking my little dog out on long beach walks! I am very passionate about gymnastics as I myself used to compete competitively, which enabled me to participate in the Disneyland Paris parade! During my time I also did voluntary coaching at my local gymnastics club.

I can’t wait to start my journey as a Dental Nurse and caring for each individual patient that steps through our doors alongside our wonderful team at Ocean Village Dental Clinic.  I look forward to meeting you all!
